DR. UMARU SANDA AHMADU COLLEGE OF EDUCATION MINNA, DARUL ERKAN FOUNDATION PARTNER ON ARABIC, ISLAMIC STUDIES CENTER.
The Darul Erkan Foundation has paid a courtesy visit to Umaru Sanda College of Education (COE), Minna, to inspect a site earmarked for the establishment of a Centre for Arabic and Islamic Studies and Research.
Speaking during the visit, the Team Leader of the foundation, Mr. Metin Celebi, said the organization is committed to promoting Islam and supporting Muslim communities across Nigeria. He noted that the proposed centre would contribute significantly to the training of future leaders and the advancement of Islamic education and research.
Mr. Celebi disclosed that Darul Erkan Foundation has so far constructed 39 mosques and over 900 boreholes nationwide, in addition to organizing annual Eid and Ramadan programmes, Zakat distribution, and Islamic competitions.
The Provost of the college, Dr. Muhammad Baba, who received the delegation alongside members of the management team, described the initiative as a major step toward achieving one of the institution’s core mandates, research. He explained that since Arabic and Islamic Studies are already accredited programmes in the college, the centre would further enhance academic activities through conferences, workshops, seminars, and Da’awah programmes.
Dr. Baba also revealed that the partnership with Darul Erkan Foundation, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed about three weeks ago, marked the college’s first collaboration with an external organization. He added that the establishment of the centre is a key component of the agreement.
The visit concluded with the presentation of the proposed building plan and an inspection of the project site.
